Calling for Fair Trial, Due Process & Humanitarian Treatment for
Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Masud Uddin Chowdhury
Former High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Australia
(2008–2014)

signatures so far
Who is he? Lt. Gen. Chowdhury served as Bangladesh's High Commissioner in Canberra for six years. His credentials were accepted by the Governor-General. He served across three Australian Prime Ministers. He was arrested in Dhaka on March 24, 2026 at age 71 in what is widely seen as a politically motivated detention.
⚠ Medical emergency: He suffers from complications of brain surgery (2023), chronic lung disease, diabetes, and has had multiple ICU admissions including 16 days for COVID (2020) and 12 days for pneumonia (2025). He has been denied proper medications and specialist care. His life is at risk.

We call on the Australian government to:

  1. Advocate for his right to fair trial and due process
  2. Press for bail on humanitarian and medical grounds
  3. Demand immediate access to proper medical care
  4. Raise this through DFAT and the Australian High Commission in Dhaka
